The short version, before the local detail

Claremont Software builds custom five-page websites for $2,500 flat, live within 14 days of the day your content is complete, with the copywriting written for you and the first month of care included. The finished site belongs to you. We work out of one office, in Gurnee, and we claim no other address anywhere in Lake County.

Lake Forest gets a page of its own because the commercial ground here is split in a way that most towns' is not. The city's business pages describe an East and Central district built around Market Square and the Deerpath and Western Avenue blocks, then separate west-side districts along the Waukegan Road and Everett Road corridor and at Conway Office Park near Route 60. The city counts four business districts in all and reports a combined 97% occupancy across them. Some of that is a walkable downtown more than a century old. The rest is a corridor and office-park economy where nobody walks anywhere.

So the phrase "in Lake Forest" does very little work by itself. What follows is what that split does to a website and a Google Business Profile, and where a build changes the outcome. If your situation contradicts any of it, say so on the call and we will adjust.

What we build for a Lake Forest business

The five pages get arranged differently depending on which side of town you are on. A Market Square retailer is answering "should I walk in." A Conway Office Park firm is answering "can we put you on a vendor list." Our custom web development covers both at one price: five pages, $2,500 flat, copy written for you, live 14 days after your content is complete, and the site is yours. Anything past the fifth page is $350, priced in writing before it gets built.

Local SEO is the piece that settles the address question. It covers ongoing Google Business Profile management, citation cleanup, location content, and local schema, which together decide whether your listing reads as a downtown business or a west-side one, and whether the map sends a first-time customer to the right door.

The practices clustered near the downtown, wealth management, law, and medicine, sell on credibility long before they sell on price. Law firm website design shows how we lay out that kind of site, and custom backend work handles intake, scheduling, and secure client forms for the days when a contact page is not enough.

Downtown retail that wants to sell past the sidewalk runs into e-commerce builds, which start at $5,000 and get scoped in writing. After launch, care plans are $99 or $199 a month, month to month, and your first month is already inside the build price. The countywide version of all of this lives on our Lake County web design page.

How someone actually finds you here

Two things make search work differently in Lake Forest than in the towns around it. The city requires no general business license, so no municipal registry is quietly feeding your details into the data aggregators. And the city has two commuter rail stations on two different lines, so the most common landmark in local directions points at two places. Both push work back onto the sources you control.

  • "Near the station" narrows nothing. The Union Pacific North line stops at 691 N. Western Avenue and the Milwaukee District North line stops at 911 Telegraph Road, two lines on two sides of town. Directions on your contact page and in your Google profile should name the line and the street rather than the train.
  • There is no city list to inherit. Lake Forest requires no general business license and runs a voluntary, no-cost business registration in its place, used for emergency contacts and notices. No official municipal directory publishes your name, address, and phone in a form the aggregators copy. Your own site and your Google Business Profile are the original record, and everything downstream copies whatever they say, including the mistakes.
  • A large part of the audience is a company rather than a household. Grainger has its headquarters here, and Packaging Corporation of America names 1 North Field Court its Lake Forest corporate headquarters. A purchasing contact wants capabilities, a real address, and a way to reach a person on a Tuesday afternoon. A resident wants hours and a price range. One site carries both when the pages are assigned deliberately, and turns to mush when they are not.
  • A lot of the traffic is passing through. The city's own business demographics material puts roughly 100,100 vehicles a day on Route 41 through Lake Forest, with the interstates carrying more just west of that. The figure is the city's own and we could not match it to a state count, so treat it as their number. The behavior behind it holds either way: a decision made from a moving car needs your hours, your cross street, and a tap-to-call button before the next light.
  • This market reads before it calls. The city's census page reports that 81.2% of adults 25 and over hold a bachelor's degree or higher, using the 2016 to 2020 American Community Survey, and the 2024 five-year estimate puts median household income at $235,081. Pages get read closely here. A stock photo of a skyline that is not this one, or a services list with no prices anywhere on the site, gets noticed and counted against you.

Who we build for in Lake Forest

The four districts hold four kinds of business, and they do not want the same website:

  • Retailers and restaurants inside Market Square and along the Deerpath and Western Avenue blocks
  • Wealth management, law, and medical practices working a North Shore client base from downtown offices
  • Suppliers, contractors, and service firms on the Waukegan Road and Everett Road corridor whose customers are the corporate offices a mile away
  • Tenants at Conway Office Park near Route 60, where the funnel is a referral, a search for the firm's name, and a look at the site before the meeting
  • Home services working a housing stock the city's census page puts at a median owner-occupied value of $818,000
  • Businesses that live on the daytime population at Lake Forest College and the hospital campus

The two Lake Forests, and what they do to a website

Market Square opened in 1916. Howard Van Doren Shaw designed it for the developer Arthur T. Aldis as a U-shaped Arts and Crafts complex around a central green, with head-in parking between the green and the storefronts. It is widely credited as the first shopping center in the United States planned around the automobile, with Kansas City's Country Club Plaza, which came later, usually taking the title of first suburban shopping center. Since 1978 the Square has been part of the Lake Forest Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places. For a business inside it, the exterior is a shared and protected face. A customer crossing the green sees one architectural language and reads the differences off the signs and the windows. Everything you would use to stand out somewhere else has to happen on your website instead.

Head west and the rules invert. The Waukegan Road and Everett Road corridor and Conway Office Park near Route 60 are drive-to addresses with parking lots, suite numbers, and buildings that resemble their neighbors. Nobody strolls past. The city reports 97% occupancy across its four districts combined, which is its own published figure, and a west-side business is rarely competing for space. It is competing for the two seconds before a search result gets tapped. On that side of town, the address in your Google profile has to carry the suite, and your site has to say which building and which entrance.

Both geographies rest on a set of employers that keeps the city busy on weekdays. Two institutions add a second daytime population on top of the corporate one. Lake Forest College was founded in 1857 and reports close to 1,600 students on a 107-acre campus. The Northwestern Medicine hospital here began in 1899 as Alice Home Hospital on that college campus, moved to its current site in 1942, and reopened in 2018 as a $399 million campus with 114 private inpatient beds; in October 2025 it was renamed Northwestern Medicine Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital after a gift from Kenneth C. Griffin. Employees, patients, visitors, and students search from inside the city every weekday without living here, and none of them know your block.

One more thing shapes local citations in this city. Lake Forest has no chamber of its own. It shares the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Chamber of Commerce, roughly 470 member businesses, with an office at 207 E. Westminster and a Think Local First buy-local program. That membership directory is one of the strongest local citations available to you, and it lists two towns at once. Your entry has to be explicit about which town you are in, because the directory will not make that distinction for someone skimming it.

Frequently Asked Questions: Lake Forest

My business is on the west side, nowhere near Market Square. How should the site handle that?
Name the corridor. The city treats the Waukegan Road and Everett Road area and Conway Office Park as districts separate from the East and Central downtown, and the customer driving to you treats them that way too. On the site that means a location page giving the building, the suite, the entrance, and what sits on the corner, with directions written from Route 60 and Route 41 instead of from downtown. On the Google Business Profile it means the suite number in the address field and the surrounding streets in the description. A downtown-flavored page attached to a west-side address confuses the searcher and the map at the same time.
How much does a website cost in Lake Forest, IL?
$2,500 flat for a custom five-page site: copywriting, mobile-first design, local SEO fundamentals, connection of your Google Business Profile, and the first month of hosting and care. Extra pages are $350 each and get quoted in writing before anyone builds them. E-commerce, booking systems, and other custom work start at $5,000, also quoted in writing. The number does not move because the address is on Deerpath. We publish it because the buyer in this city reads a pricing page before making a call, and a site with no prices anywhere reads as a site with something to hide.
Our customers are the companies headquartered here rather than households. Does a local website matter?
It matters in a different way. A purchasing contact at a headquarters on this side of the county is rarely browsing. They already have your name from a referral or a vendor list, and they are checking whether you look like a business that will still exist next year and can invoice properly. That is a five-page job: what you do, who you do it for, evidence that you are a real company at a real address, how buying from you works, and one clear way to start. Local SEO still earns its keep, because the same company's facilities manager eventually searches a category instead of a name, and that search happens from inside Lake Forest.
Lake Forest has no business license. Does that change anything for local search?
It removes a shortcut that other towns hand you. The city requires no general business license and runs a voluntary, no-cost registration instead, used mainly for emergency contacts and notices about seminars. Towns with mandatory licensing produce a public list that data aggregators sometimes pull from, which quietly reinforces a business's name, address, and phone number. Here that reinforcement does not exist, so the weight falls on the three sources you control: your website, your Google Business Profile, and the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Chamber directory. Getting those to agree character for character is the first hour of work on most accounts in this city.
If we ever stop working with you, what happens to the site?
It stays yours, because it was yours from launch. That question comes up more here than in most towns, since a downtown that has been trading since 1916 is full of firms measuring their tenure in decades, and none of them should be renting their own website from an agency. You get the files and the domain stays in your name. The care plan runs month to month at $99 or $199, with the first month already inside the build price, and ending it just means you take the files and host them wherever you like.

What Our Clients Say

See how other small business owners transformed their revenue with a professional website.

“Working with Claremont has been one of the best decisions I've made for my business. From the beginning, they took the time to genuinely understand what I do and what I was struggling with online. It never felt like a cookie-cutter process—they asked the right questions, offered thoughtful guidance, and made me feel like my success actually mattered to them. The website they built for me is fast, clean, and clearly designed with conversions in mind. I've had multiple clients mention how easy it was to navigate and how professional everything looks. Their SEO work has made a real difference too; I'm seeing more traffic, better leads, and a noticeable bump in people finding me organically. What stood out most was how easy they were to work with. They're responsive, patient, and genuinely invested in helping service professionals shine online. If you want a team that blends technical skill with a personal, caring approach, I can't recommend Claremont Software LLC enough.”

Aaron Neff

“I run a company in the aviation sector, and it's critical that we have no downtime since we may need to assist an airline or leasing company at any time of the day or night. Claremont Software has done an amazing job in maintaining our private cloud solutions, ensuring our uptime while also keeping our costs as low as possible. Every time we have had a question, or encountered an issue, Claremont has responded amazingly quickly, and has always solved the problem the first time around - this is fairly rare in my experience. I couldn't recommend Claremont more highly, and I'm sure we'll be working with them for years to come.”

Mark Hadding

“This has been a breath of fresh air. I have operated 6 different companies and have worked with many different website/SEO companies. Claremont has been the best overall by far. The ease of working with them, clear instructions on what my tasks are to help them perform for us, and overall performance is unmatched. I would recommend Claremont to anyone. By far the best I've worked with in a long time. However, if you are competing with any of my companies I'd prefer you don't use them because they're too good!”
