Working in Palatine from thirty miles north

Claremont Software builds websites out of Gurnee, in Lake County. Palatine is about thirty miles and roughly forty minutes south of us, in Cook County. We say that plainly, because a web company claiming to be around the corner from a town it has no office in is the first thing a business owner should distrust. There is one Claremont office and it is in Gurnee. The rest runs over a phone call, a shared design link you approve before anything gets coded, and email, which is how most of this work happens anyway.

Palatine had 67,908 residents at the 2020 Census and 65,842 in the Census Bureau's July 2025 estimate, spread across 13.60 square miles at roughly 4,994 people per square mile. Density like that in a northwest suburb means depth in every category. Somebody else does what you do, a few minutes' drive away, with a website of their own. What sells here is the specific thing you do that the next listing does not, written in words, on a page, near the top.

So the build itself is straightforward: $2,500 flat for five custom pages, the copy written for you, live 14 days after your content is complete, and the site is yours. The work that decides the outcome happens before that, in the decision about what your first two sentences say that nobody else in Palatine is saying.

How Palatine looks for a local business

Mean travel time to work here is 27.7 minutes, and Metra's Union Pacific Northwest Line runs a station into downtown. A large share of the working population is somewhere else during business hours, and that sets the clock on how local searching happens.

  • The looking happens after hours. Somebody who leaves at seven and gets home at six does their searching on the couch, and a business reachable only by a phone answered nine to five hands that person to whoever offers a booking link. A form that works at 9 p.m., a clear next step, and a reply inside a day cover most of it.
  • The town name does not tell a customer where you are. Northwest Highway runs through downtown, Rand Road runs to the northeast, and Dundee Road runs along the south, each with its own shopping centers and its own catchment. The Palatine Historical Society's record of local shopping centers reads as three separate retail histories. Naming your corridor and your cross street, with parking in the same paragraph, answers the question the customer actually has, which is how far away you are.
  • Census figures put 19.2% of Palatine residents as Hispanic or Latino, 24.2% as foreign born, and 36.6% of people over five speaking a language other than English at home. If your business serves customers in Spanish, that belongs where a search engine and a person can both find it: in page text, in your Google Business Profile, and in the first line of your contact section. A note taped to the counter reaches nobody who is deciding from a phone.
  • Two groups here arrive without a list of who to call. Harper College at 1200 West Algonquin Road serves about 26,500 students a year, and the Village's 2016 downtown plan set out to add multi-family housing in the blocks around the Metra station. New arrivals search, read reviews, and pick from the first few results, which is the one moment where a five-page site outperforms a thirty-year reputation you have not published anywhere.

What we build for a Palatine business

Custom web development is the $2,500 flat build: five pages, copywriting included, live 14 days after your content is complete, and it belongs to you. Additional pages are $350 each. In a market with this much depth, the five usually break down as a home page that states the difference in its first two lines, the one service that actually pays, the corridor and the suburbs you cover, proof, and a contact page that still works at 9 p.m.

Local SEO covers Google Business Profile management, citations, location content, and local schema. In Palatine most of that work is about matching how people phrase things: the corridor, the neighboring northwest suburbs, and the languages spoken in your shop. Your profile is the first thing most people see, so it is the listing that has to be right before anything else is worth doing.

The trades working out of Palatine's flex and small-bay industrial space get a call-first layout. Plumber web design, HVAC website design, and roofing website design show how those builds are structured. The ongoing version starts at $297 a month and covers local SEO, profile management, and call tracking.

If you already have a site, a redesign keeps the domain and the Google history and rebuilds everything else for the same $2,500 and the same 14 days. After launch, care plans hold hosting, updates, and monitoring at $99 a month, or $199 with staging and daily backups, month to month either way. Your first month comes with the build, and the price is the same whether you are on Dundee Road or up in Lake County.

What matters most for a business here

Specificity decides the search in Palatine. In a smaller village a business can rank because it is one of two options. With 27,303 households inside 13.60 square miles and retail strung along three state routes, the page that wins answers a narrower question than the rest bothered to answer. Plumber in Palatine is a coin flip. Sewer line camera inspection, same day, Rand Road to Dundee is a decision.

Speed is the second one, for the same reason. A page that hangs on a phone in a parking lot on Northwest Highway has a competitor one back button away. We hand-code static pages, so there is nothing loading that the page does not need. That is how we build everywhere, and Palatine is the market where it earns its keep fastest.

The third is what happens after a referral. The Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce runs a dense calendar of business networking, from Burgers and Business to ExecNet to a classic car show and an annual business expo at Falcon Park Recreation Center. That much in-person contact means a lot of work here starts with somebody saying your name. Then that person looks you up on a phone the same evening. Word of mouth and a website do the same job at different hours.

The map: downtown, three corridors, and Harper

Downtown Palatine is organized around the Metra station on the Union Pacific Northwest Line, and in November 2016 the Village Board adopted a Downtown and Transit Oriented Development Plan as an amendment to its Comprehensive Plan. The Regional Transportation Authority funded $80,000 of the $100,000 project through its Community Planning program and the Village covered the rest. The recommendations are specific: more multi-family housing in the blocks around the station, better walking and cycling access to it, more housing variety without changing the character of the neighborhoods next door, and more downtown visibility to draw visitors, employers, and investment. A downtown deliberately adding households is a downtown adding people who do not yet know who to call.

The retail history sits on three roads. Northwest Highway, U.S. Route 14, runs through downtown and has carried retail for decades, including Palatine Plaza at 223 to 333 East Northwest Highway. Rand Road, Route 12, carries Winston Park Plaza at 1700 to 1711 North Rand and the Rand and Dundee Shopping Center at 1590 North Rand, open since at least 1980. Dundee Road, Route 68, carries Coachlight Plaza at Dundee and Smith, Woodcraft Plaza at 1286 East Dundee, and the Northwest Shopping Center at Hicks and Dundee, open since at least 1981. Those records come from the Palatine Historical Society. Three corridors means three different drives for the same customer, and a page that names yours saves them the guess.

The Village runs the Palatine Farmers' Market in the train station's east lot at 137 West Wood Street, Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. from May through October, then first and third Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon through the winter. Downtown Palatine Street Fest takes over the Brockway and Slade Street blocks for a multi-day run in August. Both put a crowd downtown with phones out. For a downtown business, the week before each one is when the hours, the photos, and the tap-to-call link have to already be correct rather than on a list.

Harper College sits at 1200 West Algonquin Road, opened in 1967 after a 1965 referendum, and serves about 26,500 students a year across the northwest suburbs. That is a year-round adult population, much of it living outside the village, orienting by campus rather than by town name. The other constant is Palatine's industrial base, which the brokerages leasing it describe as masonry warehouses, multi-tenant flex space, and small-bay buildings housing contractors, specialty manufacturers, and distributors. Those firms get found through a category search or a referral, then checked against a website before anyone sends an email. One more thing worth stating for the record: Palatine is a Cook County village. Palatine Township is one of Cook County's 29 townships, and every ZIP code serving the village is a Cook County ZIP. If you are setting up location targeting, Cook is the county to use.

Frequently Asked Questions: Palatine

You are in Gurnee. Does that work for a Palatine business thirty miles away?
It works because almost none of the job needs a room. Palatine is roughly thirty miles and about forty minutes from our office in Gurnee, in a different county, and we would rather say so than pretend to be local. What the build takes is a conversation about what you sell, whatever content you already have, a design you approve before anything gets coded, and a review link you can open on your phone. If you want to meet in person, we will drive down. There is no Palatine address on this page because there is no Palatine address.
Businesses like mine in Palatine already have websites. What does a new one get me?
It gets you a reason. Presence stopped being the advantage here a long time ago, in a village of 27,303 households packed into 13.60 square miles with retail along Northwest Highway, Rand Road, and Dundee Road. The pages that win a search answer a narrower question than the rest: the specific service, the specific corridor, the specific problem, in plain words near the top. The second advantage is speed, since a page that hangs on a phone loses to whichever one finishes loading. Both of those are build decisions and both are inside the $2,500.
Should my Palatine site have Spanish-language pages?
If you serve Spanish-speaking customers, yes, and start with the parts that carry the decision. Census figures put 19.2% of Palatine residents as Hispanic or Latino, 24.2% as foreign born, and 36.6% of people over five speaking a language other than English at home. One well-written Spanish page covering your main service, your hours, and how to reach you does more than a machine translation of the whole site. Put it in page text, set the language attributes on your Google Business Profile, and place it where somebody sees it before they scroll.
My work comes from chamber referrals. Is a website really the priority?
Your website is what the referral turns into. The Palatine Area Chamber runs a heavy networking calendar, from Burgers and Business to ExecNet to the annual business expo at Falcon Park, so plenty of work here does start with somebody saying your name at a table. What happens next is that person looking you up on a phone that evening. If they find a site that matches what they were told, the referral closes itself. If they find a page nobody has touched in six years, the referral has to be made again. Both channels are doing the same job at different hours.
What does $2,500 cover in Palatine, and what does it not?
It covers five custom pages, the copywriting for them, mobile-first design, local SEO fundamentals, connection of your Google Business Profile, and your first month of hosting and care, live 14 days after your content is complete, and you own the result. It does not cover ongoing Google Business Profile management, which sits inside local SEO and inside the $297 a month growth plan along with call tracking. It does not cover e-commerce, booking systems, or custom features, which are quoted in writing from $5,000. Extra pages are $350. Everything you pay is in the agreement before we start, and the numbers are the same on Dundee Road as they are in Gurnee.

What Our Clients Say

See how other small business owners transformed their revenue with a professional website.

“This has been a breath of fresh air. I have operated 6 different companies and have worked with many different website/SEO companies. Claremont has been the best overall by far. The ease of working with them, clear instructions on what my tasks are to help them perform for us, and overall performance is unmatched. I would recommend Claremont to anyone. By far the best I've worked with in a long time. However, if you are competing with any of my companies I'd prefer you don't use them because they're too good!”

“I had a great experience working with Claremont Services LLC to create my website. It honestly turned out even better than I originally envisioned. Since launching, I've received so many compliments on how professional everything looks. The entire process was incredibly easy. Jamieson provided several mockups of different layouts, then worked directly with me to make sure all of my ideas were captured. Before I knew it, everything came together seamlessly — like magic. I would absolutely recommend Claremont Services LLC to anyone looking to build a professional, high-quality website.”

Carl — Santos Chronicles

“I run a company in the aviation sector, and it's critical that we have no downtime since we may need to assist an airline or leasing company at any time of the day or night. Claremont Software has done an amazing job in maintaining our private cloud solutions, ensuring our uptime while also keeping our costs as low as possible. Every time we have had a question, or encountered an issue, Claremont has responded amazingly quickly, and has always solved the problem the first time around - this is fairly rare in my experience. I couldn't recommend Claremont more highly, and I'm sure we'll be working with them for years to come.”
